Setting up the Shot - Yoga in the Dark
Camera - Nikon D300
Lens - Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8
Exposure - 1/1600 @ f/2.8
Focal Length - 52mm
Lighting - Nikon SB900
Light Modifier(s) - 60" Westcott shoot through umbrella
Trigger - Nikon SU800
This shot is a great example of the ability to completely control ambient light through super fast shutter speeds with Nikon's CLS system.
This Yoga studio had a good amount of natural light coming in from many large windows that lined the entire wall to camera right.
By using the Nikon CLS system I was able to use flash with a sync speed of 1/1600 of a second. At that speed the ambient light was pretty much eliminated and only the light from the Nikon SB900 flash registered in the exposure.
